The Journey of Morning Glory Church of God
Started in Christ started in January 2000 at the Holiday Inn hotel in South Austin, under the leadership of Elder Charles and Missionary Georgetta Patterson, yielding many saved and delivered souls.
In November 2001, Minister Frederick Patterson learned about a building at 3400 Govalle Ave, Austin, TX. A decision was made to relocate, and even though the building was rented, the ministry’s expansion continued. Despite facing numerous challenges at this location, solutions were facilitated for each one, leading to significant progress.
Minister Fredrick Patterson, was entrusted with the pastoral responsibilities of the church by Bishop Samuel E. Iglehart in October 2003 and currently serves as the shepherd to the congregation.
Upon his appointment, Pastor Patterson sought divine guidance for a permanent place of worship. He found a building with a weathered sign at the entrance that conveyed a message from the Lord, “YOU CAN GET THIS BUILDING.” After negotiations, Morning Glory Church of God in Christ officially signed a contract for the building in January 2006 and relocated to 208 Bonnett Street. Pastor Patterson negotiated an affordable monthly payment for the congregation. A plan was developed to renovate the building, now recognized as the “Morning Glory Church,” where remarkable activities occur.
